Which die do you need

We manufacture our brass dies in-house using CNC machines with a maximum bed capacity of 1000 mm x 700 mm. As standard, we etch or CNC dies to 1.25 mm although customers might need a deeper finish depending on the substrate they are foiling onto.

What die do you need?


Magnesium

Can be CNC machined or chemically etched.

  • Cheaper so ideal for a budget job
  • 2 hour turn around
  • Ideal for producing exquisite images
  • Short to medium run
  • Perfect for adding an embossed, textured finish to a printing job
  • Lightweight

As standard we etch or CNC magnesium foil blocking dies to 1.25 mm. However, deeper finishes are available upon request depending on the substrate to be foiled onto.

You can order magnesium dies in the following gauges:-

  • 7mm
  • Quarter inch (6.35mm)
  • 5mm
  • 3mm
  • 16 gauge (1.6mm)

Brass

The benefits of brass dies include:-

  • Very durable, ideal for longer run
  • Will last forever, as it doesn't oxidise like magnesium
  • Friendly to the environment
  • Good heat retention and foil transfer
  • Extremely sharp, straight shoulders and a high definition finish
  • Good for all foil stamping applications
  • Multi-level embossing and de-bossing also available
  • Brass CNC dies are also suitable for flat foil and reversal dies

  • 1mm
  • 23.3mm (type high)
